Aussie Christmas Lights

The magic of Christmas lights transforms neighborhoods into enchanted wonderlands, drawing families out for evening strolls and creating shared moments of joy.

These brilliant beacons of holiday spirit do more than illuminate the darkness—they kindle connections between strangers who pause to chat about a particularly impressive display, and inspire annual traditions as families map out their favorite routes to visit each year.

To all those who dedicate their time, creativity, and electricity bills to crafting these luminous gifts for their communities, thank you for sharing your displays and keeping the wonder of the season alive for generations young and old.

Introduction

Aussie Christmas Lights ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

By using Aussie Christmas Lights, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Account Information - When you sign in with Apple, we may collect your Apple ID user identifier, your name (if you choose to share it), and your email address (if you choose to share it).

Display Information - When you add a Christmas light display, we collect street address and location coordinates, display title and description, operating hours and dates, feature tags, and photos you upload.

Information Collected Automatically

Location Data - With your permission, we access your device location to show nearby displays.

Usage Data - View counts on displays (anonymised) and favourite displays you save.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to display Christmas light locations on the map, allow you to save favourite displays across your devices, enable you to add and manage your own displays, and prevent abuse through rate limiting.

Data Storage and Sync

Your data is stored using Apple CloudKit for secure sync through Apple's iCloud infrastructure, and local storage for preferences and cached data on your device.

We do not operate our own servers. All cloud data is managed through Apple's secure CloudKit service.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

Display information you submit is visible to all app users. Data syncs through Apple's CloudKit service, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Photo Privacy

All photos uploaded through the app have EXIF metadata automatically stripped before upload. Only the image itself is stored, with no hidden location data.

Your Rights

You have the right to access your data within the app, update your display information at any time, delete your account and associated data through the app settings, and access your data on any of your Apple devices via iCloud sync.

Children's Privacy

Aussie Christmas Lights is a family-friendly app rated 4+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We implement appropriate security measures including secure authentication via Sign in with Apple, server-side validation, input sanitisation, and encrypted data transmission via Apple's CloudKit.

By downloading, installing, or using Aussie Christmas Lights ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Aussie Christmas Lights is a community-driven mobile application that allows users to discover Christmas light displays across Australia, add and manage their own displays, upload photos, save favourites, and plan routes to visit displays.

3. User Accounts

You may browse displays without creating an account. To add displays, upload photos, or save favourites across devices, you must sign in with Apple. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activities that occur under your account.

4. User Content

By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, distribute, and display your content in connection with the App. You retain ownership of your content.

You represent that you own the content or have the right to submit it, and that it does not infringe any third party's rights or violate any laws.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to submit false or misleading information, upload inappropriate content, harass other users, impersonate any person, use the App for unlawful purposes, or circumvent security measures.

6. Content Moderation

We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove any content at our discretion, and to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Intellectual Property

The App is owned by Cody Media Design and is protected by copyright and trademark laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

8. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee the accuracy of display information including locations, operating hours, or current status.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
